Phase 3
View. This is version 3 of (inky);paper entitled pomme pourrie, meaning “Rotten Apple” in French. After a month’s break of web design, I decided to get back into the groove. I carefully selected my choice of colors and I went to work shortly after. This design features Chidori from the Persona series of video games, and it showcases a lovely blend of red, light green, and gray. Compared to my previous two layouts, this design is quite a change of pace as it is not dark-centric. There is not much to say here, but I thoroughly enjoyed this design.
Phase 2
View. This here is Version 2 of (inky);paper entitled You are the culprit. I thought it was about time for me to give (inky);paper a new look. For this design, I used a game CG of Hisui from the Melty Blood: Actress Again fighting game. When I was brainstorming on what color scheme I should aim for, I stumbled across that delicious image of Hisui. It won me over, and I had to use it for this new design. After coding the design, I was able to design the header. I decided to go with a delightfully dark, pretty ‘n pink color scheme. Also, I added a notebook paper touch to this design to top it all off. This design stayed online from September 4th, 2009 to October 3rd, 2009. After it’s all said and done, I would have to admit that this design felt a bit rushed. It stayed online during my first weeks of 10th grade and I had been suffering with designer’s block at the time. Patience is a virtue~
Phase 1
View. This is Version 1 of (inky);paper entitled To Rot. I really love this design. In the beginning of the designing process I tried many, many approaches for the anime image. I wanted to give off a nice blue feel to the design. After searching through my images I found an old image of Black Rock Shooter illustrated by Huke. I thought that the image was perfect in what I wanted to display. After some time I achieved the coloring I wanted. Then the design was complete after I dressed up the header. The coding and color scheme was a roller coaster ride. At first I used blue, neon green, red, hot pink, and white. When I looked at the result I was pleased, but then again displeased. I did not want to use red, white, and blue again in another design as I have used that trio before with ashikiYOKO. It kind of looked out of whack too. So after using my color picker I selected only blues and neon green. I have to say, it looks very nice. I could finally give myself a pat on the back. This design is wonderful. It was online from August 16th to September 4th, 2009.
Ashikiyoko
Version 22
View 1 / 2 Version 22, Entitled Heartfelt Lullaby takes me back to my usual bright and colorful style of designs. One day I felt inspired to make a design, so I decided to use the dynamic duo of Satsuki “Sacchin” Yumizuka and Sion Eltnam Atlasia. These two femme fatales are from the Melty Blood series of fighting games. This design features the original portrait art of both characters by Takeuchi Takashi. After browsing through my Tsukihime folder I thought that making a layout with Sacchin and Sion would be great. Sacchin wears a bright, bubbly school-girl outfit while Sion wears a vibrant, purple uniform. I picked out the color scheme from the two of them and came up with this design. Having only two shades to work with, I added in the red for an extra color that I thought would look nice with yellow and purple. I liked this design for a few days before I began to dislike it. This was Ashikiyoko’s final version before I made (inky);paper.
Version 21
View 1 / 2 Version 21, Entitled guilty&green is yet another design during what I call my monochrome chapter. ashikiYOKO desperately needed a makeover when I settled down for the summer and I came up with this. I really enjoy darker layouts with a bit of color here and there. This design features C.C. from Code Geass (I used the same character in version 18). My color palette was fairly small this time. I only wanted to use shades of green, white, gray, and black for this version. In the process of making this design I tried many different approaches and failed miserably. It all turned around on July 8th when I came across a scan of C.C. that I absolutely fell in love with at first sight. I just had to make a design out of it. Starting immediately, I opened photoshop and extracted it. Then I made the header and built the entire layout based on my result. This design was an instant success and I could finally give myself a pat on the back. This design stayed online from July 9th to August 10th.
Version 20
View 1 / 2 Version 20, Entitled Blue Radish is another dark layout of mine with vibrant colors. This design features Eureka and Anemone from Eureka SeveN. It was a mixture of hot colors with a cool blue added in. I found the manga scan from Anime Paper and color it myself. As I began to color Eureka her original blue color I decided to do something different for Anemone. I used orange, red, and the blue from Eureka’s clothing. The design came right together after that. I made a striped pattern using the colors used on the manga scan along with yellow for that extra vibrancy. I never described it as it was online either! I was busy with finals and the beginning of summer during the time it was online. Lastly, this design stayed online from April 6th to July 9th.
Version 19
View 1 / 2 Version 19, Entitled Read or Dream is one of the very few times I design with dark colors. This layout is pretty small, light-weight, and it still manages to obtain that vibrant look I love. One day I sat down and I thought about updating with more icons with version 18. When I looked at when I last updated I noticed that I had not added anything in over a month! So, I told myself: If you want to add icons you’ll have to add a new design. That delayed my update for two weeks as I failed at making 2 layouts. Then came the 3rd week and I found some pretty scans of the anime Read or Die on my computer. I had to do something with them, so I randomly began to color them in Photoshop. I was so phased by my editing that I had to make a design out of it. Here we are! At first I almost trashed this one, but once I kept working on it this design came out perfectly as I wanted it to. This stayed online from January 26th to April 6th. Edit// After browsing through my bookmarks, I was able to finally find the link of my source of inspirations. My sources came from the genius that is Vivienne. I had to try out that spiffy h1 style~ Not only that, her designs are awe-inspiring.
Version 18
View 1 / 2 Version 18, Entitled Monday Asteroid is another one of my crazy ideas when is comes to designs. As you can see, I used vibrant colors again. From Green to Pink and Yellow. Now, not many designers mess around with bright shades like this. The interesting thing though is that I pulled it off without it being blinding on the eyes. I usually don’t make centered designs, but this type of layout looks great. I put my digital coloring skills to the test with this one. The pretty girl up there is C.C. from the anime Code Geass. I dressed her up nicely and sharpened the header to give it that extra Zing. Hmm, I don’t have too much more to say about this one, but it is truly a beautiful design.
Version 17
View 1 / 2 Version 17, Entitled Be my ACTress Again expresses my love for the Type-Moon doujin studio, and it features 2 popular series from them. The title is inspired by the upcoming game in the Melty Blood series called: Actress Again. The header features Matou Sakura and Rin Tohsaka from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. The footer features Arcueid Brunestud and Akiha Tohno from Melty Blood, my favortie PC game series. This layout was inspired by Type-Moon’s medieval style in their animes. This layout is a beautiful mixture of light textures and desaturation effects. I think these two elements really compliment each other, and that’s why this layout came out just how I wanted it to be. Again, I don’t like to have a small variety of colors in my layouts, so I mixed in a lot of colors in this layout. Surprisingly, it came out greatly. In addition to a new style, I learned how to use Image Maps in this layout. I also learned how to code in Tables, opposed to coding in Div Layers. I also utilized how to upload from my FTP Server, which is much faster and easier than uploading from the internet. Now, I can just upload from my desktop. This layout stayed up from July to the end of October.
Version 16
View. After 4 months of the previous design I thought I’d stop being lazy, think about something, and make this. Here is another one of my uninspired layouts that takes me a while to make. In the beginning of making a layout that’s uninspired I usually start to loose hope before even coding it and it takes me over a week to compose it. But I didn’t lose hope and it was time well spent. It’s a blend of all of the summery colorful colors. Entitled; The Concept of Love. The title and the text in the header comes from the song of the same name from my all time favorite game Jet Set Radio Future. The character featured is Yoko from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The texture came from 44suburbia which is now closed. This layout lasted from June 25 to July 19. :)
Version 15
View. It was such a pain making this layout, but I loved it. It was SO SO SO colorful. It was inspired by spring and my IPhone. In the beginning this layout only consisted of warm colors, but then I changed it entirely into the whole spectrum of spring colors. It features Emma Skye from the Apollo Justice video games. I’ve never played them, but the art caught my eye and I fell in love with it. This was up for a very long time. It lived from March 2008 to June 2008.
Version 14
View. My best layout yet. I love this layout. After reading through a lot of blogs about the web design community and inspiration (this article) I grew very discouraged about the previous version 14, so I re-did it into something more of my personal style because it was a complete copy lol. It took me a while to think of a color scheme that catches the eye immediately, and I pulled it off nicely if I do say so myself. I spiced up this layout with a lot of textures, it makes it stand out from just regular CSS colors. I also super selective colorized the anime image, I think it gives this layout the feeling it needs. The notebook effect looks makes it stand out even more huh? Tyler from Anxiety taught me how to do it through e-mail and Harper from Anxiety was my new source of inspiration at that time. Since I was suffering with designers block at that time, I sought out something that could give me a boost in my head. I tried out their style of layouts for a while with this version to learn a new style that’s out there. This version went through a lot of editing and stayed up for over 5 months.
Version 13
View. Wow. Let me be the first to say, I totally LOVE this layout. It took me two days to put together, and I’m happy with the result. It was kept up from July 16th, 2007 to August 20th, 2007. This version features Goto Maki from the Japanese band Morning Masume. The image was found on Photobucket.com with the search Morning Musume. I looked all around the world for the image. The colors reflect my summer: fun, refreshing, and colorful. I wanted to get away from making anime based layouts all of the time, so this is something new.
Version 12
View. This version features a character from the anime Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. It’s very simplistic and compatible, and it looks professional. It was inspired by Nuwen, a very skilled Wordpress template designer. Not much to say really, but I loved it.
Version 11 – Nana
Version 11 was kept up for a few days, it was put up on July 1st, 2007. This layout really didn’t stick in my head, and I got easily bored with it. It was compatible with all browsers and resolutions, which was a good thing. I tore it down on and put version 12 up on the 4th of July 2007.
Version 10 – Fresh Fruit
Fresh fruit was a very small layout. It was very colorful though, and it was easy on the eyes. But…it was kept up for a few days until I got tired of it.
Version 9 – Ice Cream
This was a nice professional looking layout. It was blue and pink, a good choice of colors. It featured Sakura from Card Captor Sakura. It was inspired by my affiliate Scrapboxed. It was up for about a week.
Version 8 – Eternal
Eternal was complete failure. It was up for only 3 days. I knew I could’ve done better. The content was organized, but the layout was all off balanced. It was a blend of purple, red, blue, and pink, and that’s the only part that was a success.
Version 7 – Summer Sunset
I totally L-O-V-E-D this layout! It was up for a month and a few days. It was a mixture of pink and gray. I really can’t describe how much I loved the layout. This layout was just…awesome.
Version 6 – Marshimaro
View. This version featured a character from the anime Ichigo Marshimaro which means Strawberry Marshmellow in japanese. This was one of my longest lasting layouts, it was up for a whole month when a few of my layouts last for a few weeks at the most. It was one of my favorites.
Version 5 – Efflorescence
View. This layout was up during the spring time after version 4. It featured a character from Kaleido Star. Yet another lovely mixture of purple, white, and pink. It was really spacey though. I realized that some people on the net have lower screen resolutions than my 1024×768 screen. Ah the dreaded 800×600 screen resolution, I despise it. Knowing that some browsers had to scroll left and right to see the whole layout because of their 800×600 screen resolution, I took down the layout.
Version 4 – Violet Spring
View. This layout was up during the spring time. It was a mixture of purples and pinks. It was very…empty. It was only up for a few days after I started hating it.
Version 3
View. Wow. I LOVED this layout. It was blue, my favorite color. It featured a character from Disgaea. It took up the whole 1024×768 screen. I had no idea that people with 800×600 screen resolutions had to scroll left and right to see the layout. Oh well, it was awesome nonetheless. It was kept up for almost a month.
Version 2
View. Yet another spacey layout that took up the whole 1024×768 screen. It featured fan-art this time. This was kept up for about 3 weeks. Not much to say really, but it was a lovely layout.
Version 1
View. Wow, I can’t believe we’re down to when Ashikiyoko first started!!! Here’s version 1. It featured a character from Moetan. It was easy on the eyes and it had a techno feeling to it. The main body was inspired by a layout I saw a long time ago, I have bad memory. You guessed it. It took up the whole 1024×768 screen AGAIN. But hey, I liked it and everyone who visited liked it, so I was cool with that layout. Now do me a favor and get a 1024×768 screen resolution or higher if you don’t have one already.
